We’re thrilled to announce a new project looking at the future of energy in the South West Hertfordshire area. With the cost of energy spiking in recent years, GUCE is keen to look at how we can protect local residents from future fluctuations and provide cheap, clean, and reliable energy to the community.
In early September GUCE hosted several events across the district aiming to speak to as many people in the local community as possible. We are now assessing the feedback received and identifying possible next steps and project options. For more information on what specifically we were looking at click here

When you hear “community energy” what do you think?
GUCE believes that community energy will improve local community resilience in the face of both increasing energy costs and climate change.
We have been working to enable the current energy transition – away from fossil fuels – to take place in a way that creates positive local impacts, and benefit the community it serves.
GUCE was looking to understand what the future of Three Rivers’ energy looks like to you?
- What is your vision for your energy supply in years to come?
- Is it locally generated and does it benefit the community?
- Is it clean, green, and resilient to market shocks?
- What are you most worried about when you think about energy?
- How would you like to see your local community/area becoming more energy efficient and self-sufficient?
We hosted a series of community meetings in September 2024 so we could:
- understand the type of projects that you’d be interested in
- gather information to help us explore some of these ideas with detailed research
- link your feedback to our current projects and partners to maximise their impact and accelerate energy sustainability in Three Rivers
Sarah Burgess, Development Officer for GUCE, said
“With the cost-of-living crisis still very much a reality for so many people, locally produced renewable energy is a great way to potentially provide energy bill security and cost savings for the local community.”
We are still open to receiving your feedback as we develop our next steps – please use the Get In Touch option below or email us at guceltd@gmail.com to send us your thoughts.
